Korea Institute of Sport Science

The Sports Science Research Institute, which opened in 1980, is Korea's only full-fledged sports science research institute, and was reborn as a subsidiary of KSPO in January 1999. The institute not only provides supports to improve the performance of the national athletes, but also leads the building of infrastructure in the pursuit of a sports powerhouse implementing a standard certification system to strengthen international competitiveness of domestic sporting goods, and developing sports information networks, contents, and cyber fitness management systems. In the 21st century where the importance of sports science is further emphasized, the Sports Science Research Institute establishes itself as the greatest think tank in developing recreational sports, fostering professional sports, and of course leading all areas of sports science.
